Sub Focus for mayor

About five ago now i had my first real introduction to electronic music which, really for the first time, struck a core with me and got me hooked on all these new genres. Being predominantly Hip Hop through and through, i found a gateway genre which i found fun to DJ and just as fun to listen to. Dare i say it, DnB hooked me.

The song Voodoo People, a Pendulum remix of The Prodigy pretty much got me into electronic music. From here one of my favourite, if not favourite, producers has been Sub Focus, Nick Douwma. From handing a mini disc of tunes to Andy C he has blown up to become one of the biggest names in DnB.

Slowly there has been a merging of genres of sorts in the last few years with many dedicated Drum n Bass producers broadening horizons and breaking down barriers. Producers the likes of Dj Zinc have started producing cross genre and experienced great success. Sub Focus is no different and with the release of his debut self titled album Sub Focus we have seen this foray into cross genre producing with Dubstep and Electro tunes incorporated.

Below you can find a couple of examples, one being my favourite Sub Focus tune Follow the Light. If you are into this guys tunes make sure you get the album, it is awesome, and make sure you catch him live. Not to be missed.

Ghosts of Venice - I Learned From the Best

Hey punters, please excuse the severe lack of posts the last week. Unfortunately i came down with a rather severe stomach bug and still being the rookie i am, am still yet to organise internet at the flat.

So what have we got for today, a tune HOT off the press from British producer Lee Dunn, or Ghosts of Venice. This is a new tune which see Ghosts of Venice shift towards more of a Disco feel from his previous electro beginnings. Also check out the remix by Bobby Analog, its sick.

Let me know what you think of his tunes, and make sure you grab them from any of the major mp3 music retailers when released..

I am better now so expect alot more posts.

Diplo playing tonight at the Metro, Sydney

If you haven't heard of Diplo you must have been living under a rock for the past few years. This guys has been tearing it up all over the place, as his solo name Diplo or as his group Major Lazer with group mate Switch. '

Hailing from Pennsylvania, Diplo tunes take influence from a wide range of genres such as Electro, Hip Hop and Funk to name a few. He is the creater of the Mad Decent record label which lists major artists such as Major Lazer, L-Vis 1990, Partysquad on their roster. And even has set up program to help under priveledged city kids learn to build their music skills and get their music out to the masses.

By all accounts they killed it at Field Days over new years and im sure the gig tonight will be huge. I have a included a couple of tunes below for those of you attending to get a bit of a taste for what your in store for tonight.

We are back and Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone, i trust you all had a stellar new years, by all accounts many of the new year festivals about the place went off. 2 Many DJs and Major Lazer seemed to be the stand outs from the festival season apparently playing ripper sets at Rhythm & Vines and Field Days. Guttered i missed them.

If you tried visiting during the break the site was down as i tried to shift it to the new URL, and failed so we are back here. Hopefully we will be at www.williregretit.com soon.

Just a quick post to start off the year. I wanted to post this when it came out but was away, but i have been listening to it all holiday and couldn't resist. This is one of the latest Essental Mixes to come from BBC Radio1. The Twelves who as i have mentioned before are one of my favourite live acts and here's why. This is a 2 hour live sets recorded with live remixes by the boys João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira.

Love the live synth over the tracks and the diversity of the tracklist. Look out for these guys if they come back down under. Also check out the BBC Radio One Essential Mix website next week for a 2 hour set by Simian Mobile Disco which im sure will be awesome.
